An investigation into passive sustainable systems

Inspired by the interjecting paths surrounding 2320 Whitmore Lake Road, Hallway House presents two dominant walls onto which the remaining composition of the home is built.  Reminiscent of the surrounding nature, these walls appear to slice through the home, provoking a design that enables seasonal cooling and heating through ventilation, radiation, and conduction.

The expansive hallway that passes through the back of the home facilitates a strong conduit for air circulation within the interior.    This results in a continually ventilated and comfortable living area . This study was conducted with Anne Graziano and Michael Paul. My roles included design development, developing the three dimensional model, and aiding in the renderings.
